| The Lazy Polaroid Way |
[Dec. 2nd, 2009|12:35 pm] |
Hi honeys.
Here are some of my Polaroids from lately.
This one's from a long time ago, at the gas station. It reminds me of David, probably just because he used to work at a gas station. David, if you still read this thing, I hope you're doing good and I miss you, buddy!

| Do you want a massive post? I thought not. |
[Dec. 1st, 2009|03:15 pm] |
Helew, friends.
There are a squintillion pictures waiting to be posted to lj. I just can't make myself do it. Hence long delay since last post- plus I figure no one wants to really see a squintillion pictures (but I'll probably subject you to them anyway, PREPARE.)
So let me start small.
Here's my cousin, Brave. I think he's gonna be staying with us for a while. With him, my grandmother, my parents, two little barking rats, Boo, and me all under one roof, we might want to post a sign outside that says, "Looney Bin". This is a horribly flat picture, but here you go, Aunt Karen.

I cornrowed his hair. (Yes, I'm thinking of opening a little shop. First I'll have to get three-inch-long fake nails though and I'll have to attach little jeweled beads to them with jumper rings). Flyaways. Oops. Next time I'll do it on wet hair. What can I say- I'm a photographer, not a ...corn... row... er.

Brave's had his tonsils removed; he went back to CO to get it done because that's where he's got insurance. Then a blood clot formed in his throat and he had to be airlifted to another hospital. Great. Apparently he's doing fine but it's hard to keep in touch without phones and so forth, which his family doesn't use much. I've been thinking of him a lot today.
Get better, Cuz.
Coming up someday when I'm not quite so lazy: Thanksgiving- we all go to Santa Fe to pay too much for an atmospherically sound buffet, where they have cheese and really really good deviled eggs. Also 27 other things. Amy's Bachelorette Party- once-hopeful suicide girl prepares for marriage by partying in a Catholic school girl skirt and a pink boa. Dad Gets More Catholic- St. Therese is a very picturesque church, that's the only reason I mention it. My Little Cousins Visit- I'm related to so many cute little people. I Meet Up With Annie From SPS- Once one of the most popular girls of my high school graduating class. Other Random BS- New Polaroids, my night of failed dancing, abstracts, etc etc. |

| Belt Buckle |
[Nov. 20th, 2009|03:36 pm] |
Here is my new belt buckle.

I wish I could should good photos straight out of the camera. Maybe I'll start practicing that... but probably not.
So lately I've been thinking it would be really neat to do art stuff with some kids facing challenges like autism. A friend of mine works at a house where kids who are wards of the state live, kids with autism and Tourette's, etc. Wouldn't that be cool? It seems like a big scary awesome challenge.
Sunday Beth has agreed to model for me; I'll be doing her makeup, prolly some completely bananas thing. Not like regular go-outside makeup. But then again, maybe that's what I should be doing, because Beth never wears makeup and I don't know how comfortable she'll be.
My eyes are weirdly big. I put this up on that one self portraits community and in response someone posted a picture of a lemur, with its eyes being all 1/3 of its face. I'm gonna try to go be friends with that person.

| High School |
[Nov. 17th, 2009|11:31 am] |
I went to high school with this gal and hadn't seen her since. She's moved back. It was nice to chill. Seven years, it's been. I think I'm going to abuse facebook and try and get photos of all the people from my high school that I can.

Why, here's another one now, in fact.

He's going to school now, apparently. He looks a lot different to me but his voice is just the same. It's odd, the things that change about people over time and the things that stay the same. I didn't realized how identifiable a voice could be, or how much the timbre of a voice remains lodged in one's memory.
The woman above, for example, has a beautiful feathery soprano. And that guy has a sweet sort of mellow lilt, probably in the tenor range. Even after I've forgotten so many names, I can call all their voices to my mind's ear easy as pie.
P.S. did you SEE what I'm listening to? Perversely, I've grown to really like her. Not her songs or anything (this is the only one I know) but just her cute little self. It's gotta be hard to be a lil Disney child with a Achy-Breaky dad. Don't worry, little Hannah Montana, just make it over. You can do it. |

| Cross processing. I do it to everything. |
[Nov. 15th, 2009|12:42 pm] |
What can I say? Usually my pictures, no matter what they're of, just don't look right to me unless I do some cross processing. I think I'm going to make a ring flash today from old cardboard and aluminum foil. Joy! It's getting cold here, which I'm against.

| Epic Haunted House Post |
[Nov. 13th, 2009|11:24 am] |
I went back to the haunted house down the street once more. It turns out one of the windows which was formerly busted out but blocked from the inside now is as open as the day is long. I climbed in, of course.
I'm not sure why, but I'm happy about this set of pictures.

| Night and Halloween |
[Nov. 12th, 2009|10:10 am] |
Here's another picture of Carly- unusable as far as showing what I did with her makeup but otherwise I liked it. There was either a tow truck or a cop (I forget) right across the street, which is where the lighting came from.

Carly took this. These parrots came from an old t-shirt of my dad's which finally died. Now they're on the back of a sweatshirt and Ima keep em forever. Today I think I wanna sew some things. And go take pictures at tattoo shops, which would be awesome.

One time Carissa inspired me with some pictures she took with her phone, so I'm doing the same thing today. Boo and I went on a walk in the leaves. He is fantastic.

There used to be horses here, and then just cows. Then the horses and cows were gone and it was just little goats. Now, there aren't any animals at all. I hate this depression. It affects everything.

Some other leaves.

| Carly, Barbie, Makeup |
[Nov. 10th, 2009|12:24 pm] |
I decided to get into doing people's makeup so I'm trying to make a portfolio. I don't claim to be all great or anything, but what the hell, right? Last night Carly let me practice on her. Afterwards I tried to take photos but night had fallen and flash is- uh- not my strong suite. But anyway, here is how that turned out.
This isn't a real shot, I was just wondering why my flash wasn't totally synching. She, meanwhile, was telling me about a creepy Spanish movie called The Orphanage. Right here she was explaining the kid with the bag over his head. I get frightened so easily!

I'm pretty sure I have the prettiest friends of all time. Carly is not only thin and blonde but she takes better pictures than me. We were just playing last night but yet she got these shots that were off the wall badass. Sometimes I get jealous and feel unworthy around my friends because of how I can't compare to them in any way but hey, oh well. I'm just me and there's nothing I can do about it. May as well make the best of it, right? And be happy I get to know these cool gente. |

| I have too many photos to post. |
[Nov. 9th, 2009|02:01 pm] |
My interest for photos and the inception of this livejournal coincided. I thought I would take a few pictures and that every picture I took (or at least most of them) would be posted here.
But instead I have way too many photos. They sit around. I do nothing with them.
Life's grand.
I photographed these Polaroids instead of scanning them. The results are a bit less crisp but I could have taken care of that if I wouldn't have been so lazy, and the colors are much more true. Also I cropped out the Polaborder on these. Maybe should have left it? I dunno.
Spoked Moon on Blush Aimes Crown (I worked hard to think of that pretentious title so I'm including it.

| *** **** ******* |
[Nov. 7th, 2009|04:40 pm] |
Found a old abandoned gas station on 4th. You can walk right in- no locks. There's a mattress, a lot of empty booze bottles, some lousy graffiti, and a plastic gallon-bottle full of tea bags brewing.
People spent entire days there, entire months. Maybe entire years. Now the only people to see the inside of it are people who are up to no good.

| Going Away Party |
[Nov. 5th, 2009|09:14 am] |
C'mon- there's supposed to be like almost 900,000 people in the greater metro area. Right? So how do I see someone I know like every time I step out the door?
But no here's a question
POP POLAROID QUIZ
I have 92 Polaroid shots left. Should I: (a) hoard 'em so I'll still be able to take a Polaroid in 2099? or (b) use 'em now as the situation calls for and deconstruct my camera so I can take TTVs as the next best thing once they're gone?
Please. This questions is reaching great philosophical proportions. Halp.

| Dia De Los Muertos |
[Nov. 2nd, 2009|11:08 am] |
Hello!
Yesterday there was a Dia de los Muertos parade in the South Valley. I took twenty Polaroids and loved every second. It's a huge photo op, of course. You couldn't swing a dead cat without hitting a camera. Normally that annoys me, but I thought it was a lot of fun despite the constant shutter fire.
In the end, most of the pictures I snapped were of the spectators rather than the actual parade peeps. So many people were dressed to the nines and painted up like whoa. It got me thinking that there's a million ways to paint a dead face. Not one was the same. Some people only did half their face, some still had lips, some had little flowers, also. And some people were skeleton hipsters, skeleton peasants, skeletons with wigs, skeletons with jeans, baby skeletons, dog skeletons, fat skeletons, and everything in between.
I loved these two women, loved how the one on the right was pregnant especially.

| Goodwill for a Little World |
[Oct. 22nd, 2009|01:33 pm] |
Little world. Little tiny thing.
When I want to remember I go to Goodwill, where there are baby chairs and where some preteen has meticulously plastered her shelves with stickers.
Andra's grandfather has died. I wish I could offer her my profound condolences.
